The compelling need for self managed spaces free from institutions grasp and the precariousness of the right to take up one´s abode bring along the occupation as a sociopolitical event. In Basque Country it gives right to the gaztetxeak, id est, abandoned buildings surrendered to the disuse and trading urbanist speculation which are occupied by a wide range of people to fulfil manifold activities ruled by means of assemblies. Broken down edifices are brought to a new life and turn into dynamic organizations until the moment in which because of different reasons they are evicted by police. Then, one of the cornerstone mottos of the movement starts out: ´a new occupation for every ejection´.

La necesidad de espacios autogestionados libres del control de las instituciones y la precariedad del derecho a una vivienda digna, dan motivo a la okupación como fenómeno sociopolítico. En el Pais Vasco se concreta en los gaztetxeak, edificios abandonados al desuso y la especulación son okupados para desarrollar multiples actividades gestionadas asambleariamente. Edificios ruinosos cobran nueva vida y se convierten en organismos dinámicos, hasta que por diversos motivos son desalojados por las fuerzas del orden. Entonces se pone en marcha uno de los lemas que fundamenta el movimiento: un desalojo, otra okupación.
